Hey, I’m David Miller. Classical music? It’s been my thing since I was a kid growing up near Philly. Seriously.
I was born in ’78 and I still remember a school trip where the Philadelphia Orchestra’s brass section blew my mind. It was powerful. Intricate. That was it. I was hooked.
That spark led me to Temple University. Music Education and then Music History. I wanted to get the music. Not just play it (I play the trombone, gathering dust these days, haha!). But understand the story behind it.
So, what have I been up to? A little bit of everything.
- Teaching: Over a decade at North Penn High School, leading the orchestra and band. Watching students “get” Bach? Amazing.
- Writing: I’ve been contributing to classical music blogs and journals. Chamber ensembles? How orchestras are changing? That’s my jam.
- My obsession? How old-school performance meets new interpretations. How did they play it back then? How does that inform today? It matters. Ensembles are always changing, using new tech, but still keeping the heart of the music.
Outside of music? I’m a nature nut. Hiking is my happy place. Nature’s got its own rhythm, you know? Like music.
Family is everything. My wife, Sarah, and our two kids. Trying to get them into classical music (my son’s more into electric guitar…we’ll get there!).
I want to share my love of classical music with you. Make it accessible. Help you find something to connect with. Because music? It’s for everyone. It is a universal language. I hope you’ll find something here that speaks to you.
